Common Questions

  • I have chosen to use Squarespace professionally (and teach others how to create on it) because this platform makes it easy to showcase your business online. These are my main reasons for making it my go-to platform:

    • Very intuitive and ease-of-use for business owners

    • Built-in security & SEO

    • Responsive (i.e. fast loading times)

    • Affordable pricing options.

    • Many customizable website templates.

    • It’s a platform that offers all the tools an entrepreneur needs to showcase their business online.

    • No. I’ll generate your free website trial for you. Why?

    • Since I use the platform professionally, I'm what's called a Squarespace "Circle Member." This allows me to provide users with a 6 month free trial period (instead of the typical 2-week trial) if I’m the one to generate their website trial.

    • Once I’ve confirmed your workshop registration, I’ll generate your 6 month free trial.

    • Squarespace is a paid website hosting platform. Everything a person needs to have a website is provided by Squarespace (domains, security, check-out options, etc...).

    • Since I’ll have generated your free 6 month trial, you won’t need to select a Squarespace plan until you are ready to launch OR you’re at the end of your trial. (Or if you don’t end up creating your website, you can simply let your trial expire without paying a thing).

    • Squarespace offers different pricing plans depending on your business needs. From $16 to $49 per month, if paid annually. Check out their pricing plans here. I will gladly talk with you about which plan will best suit your needs.

    • As a Squarespace Circle Member, I can provide you with 20% off your initial annual Squarespace plan.

    • When you’re ready to start your Squarespace plan, you’ll be able to do that on your own. I’m available to help walk you through the steps if need be.

  • You don’t need any of the following for the DIY Website Workshop. (I’m listing them out so that you are prepared for when you are ready to launch your website.)

    • Domain name. Highly recommended for when you’re ready to launch your website. Squarespace has you covered starting at $20/year.

    • Photos. If you want custom photos for your website, you’ll have to plan for a photographer. (Or pay a friend who’s handy with their phone with coffee).

    • Google workspace. This is only recommended if you’d like a business email. Squarespace has several options for setting this up through them - which I can help you with should you opt to take this route.

    • A Privacy Policy, and a Terms and Conditions for your website.

  • You don’t need a domain for the DIY Workshop.

Think of a domain as the name attached to the address of your website. It’s what people see at the top of the address bar, e.g.,https://businessname.com.

Before you launch your website, selecting a domain that represents your website is important! It shows professionalism and gives your business credibility among competitors.

If you already have a domain, it can be used for your new Squarespace site.

If you don’t have one, no problem! Squarespace has you covered.

    • Simple questions. If you have simple follow-up questions when wrapping up your website at home, I'll be glad to assist you via email at no cost.

    • Post-class larger questions/professional service needs: If you are in need of assistance that requires more than just a simple question/answer (e.g., building out their website for them), my paid professional services would be offered.

  • Reach out! I’ll gladly talk with you and answer any questions you have about the DIY Website Workshop!
