IMPORTANT: Before getting started, be sure to have your videos ready.

What do I mean by ready?

  1. You’ll want to make sure your video meets the specification requirements of Squarespace. They have a chart here: Squarespace video specifications.

  2. You’ll want to have named your videos BEFORE they get uploaded to your Squarespace Asset Library. Named images can help to boost your SEO (who doesn’t like that?).

Give your video a name that both reflects the video and incorporates SEO keywords. For example, I named this video for a counseling website “journal prompts counseling.mp4” ⤵️

Here’s how you’d set up your videos on your Squarespace Video Page:

  1. Select “Pages” on left navigation menu.

2. Select the + icon to the right of the Main Navigation menu, then scroll down and select “Videos”.

3. Squarespace provides template video page options; select the one you prefer.

4. You’ll be prompted to name the new page on the navigation menu on the left of your screen, and then you’ll be taken to your newly added page to begin editing it.

PS: Don’t forget to drag your new page where you’d like it to appear across your header (drag it in the menu bar on the left).

PPS: Update your page settings to reflect what your new video page is about and bake in SEO while you’re at it. :) This isn’t a must-do step, just a tip to help your website’s SEO.
